About The Potter's House, Stone Mountain GA   

Since 1999, Jeffrey and Vivian Tobias have been helping local youths through their organization, The Potter’s House Family and Children Treatment Center. What started as a single home, housing seven youths, has evolved into three group homes, each housing six at-risk youths, and a 7,000-square-foot mental health clinic. The organization, located in Stone Mountain, Georgia, is founded on Judeo-Christian principles while also respecting and acknowledging the diverse religious backgrounds of each child for whom it cares. With this in mind, The Potter’s House developed its three core values of respect, restoration, and steadfastness. The Potter’s House was founded to serve all at-risk children and families, regardless of race, religion, or class. In order to pursue this goal, the group acknowledges the need to respect and preserve the uniqueness of each child and family with whom they work. The ultimate goal of The Potter’s House is to reconnect at-risk youths with their families whenever possible. To do so, however, they must assist the child, as well as the family in some cases. They guide these individuals in restoring their whole being and becoming productive members of society. The organization believes that restoration of the whole person, mind, body, and soul, is essential to his or her continued health and happiness in life. Finally, The Potter’s House values steadfastness in adherence to its religious beliefs. By building the organization on a foundation of respect and forgiveness, the group has ensured that children can move past the traumas in their lives, and families can be reunited.
